Roan Mountain Photography is based in the mountains of western North Carolina and is a collaboration of husband and wife Pat and JoDee Collins.

Pat's interest in photography started when his dad handed down an old Voigtlander Bessamatic camera. As a kid Pat hiked the mountains trying to take pictures like Ansel Adams, and at 20 he built his first darkroom and began creating black and white photos to sell on the streets of San Francisco. Later Pat began capturing photographs of people and places all over the world whenever time and money permitted.

Today much of Pat's work focuses on the Appalachian mountains of western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee. He and JoDee own the entire picture making process from composing and taking the photos, processing and printing and even mounting and framing.

Every piece is hand made on Roan Mountain!
